Barty remains top in WTA rankings; Wimbledon champ Halep fourth

Berlin (dpa) - Ash Barty remained first in the women's tennis rankings despite a fourth round exit at Wimbledon, while champion Simona Halep climbed three places into fourth in Monday's WTA list.

The French Open champion Barty has 6,605 points and remains ahead of Naomi Osaka (6,257) and Karolina Pliskova (6,055) in an unchanged top three.
Halep meanwhile rose from seventh to fourth after beating Serena Williams in Saturday's final for her first Wimbledon title.
Williams climbed from 10th to ninth despite missing out on a record-equalling 24th title at the majors again while last year's Wimbledon champ Angelique Kerber plunged from fifth to 13th after a second-round exit.
