Catalan leader: Spanish government actions an 'attack on democracy'

Madrid - The Spanish government's demand to dismiss the regional government of Catalonia is "a direct attack on democracy," Catalan President Carles Puigdemont says.

Puigdemont says he will call on the Catalan parliament to hold a session to discuss a response to Madrid's trigger of article 155 of the constitution, which allows the suspension of regional autonomy.
However, he did not specifically recommend for the regional parliament to vote on a unilateral declaration of independence.
