Football: Polish international Wasilewski suffers horror injury

BRUSSELS- Anderlecht's Polish international Marcin Wasilewski suffered a double facture of his right leg after a horror tackle in the Belgian league match against Standard Liege on Sunday.
The player was left writhing in agony after the collision with Liege midfielder Axel Witsel.
"Marcin's season is over," said Anderlecht coach Ariel Jacobs.

Witsel insisted he had not meant to harm his opponent.
"We both went for the ball. I am not a violent player, I don't play football to break legs," he said.
The game finished in a 1-1 draw with Anderlecht staying top of the table.
Anderlecht also lost Czech international Jan Polak who suffered torn knee ligaments, an injury which Jacobs claimed was caused by a foul committed by striker Igor De Camargo.
