Germany detains man suspected of IS membership, war crimes



KARLSRUHE, GERMANY (dpa)- A suspected member of Islamic State thought to have committed war crimes in his home country of Syria has been taken into custody in Germany, federal prosecutors said on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old man is accused of having shot and killed a man for alleged blasphemy in 2014 in a public execution alongside two other members of the terrorist militia.



The body was left on display in a village in the Syrian province of Deir ez-Zor after the killing, a statement by the attorney general said.
The suspect is also accused of tormenting prisoners of Islamic State and beating a driver during a roadside check.
It was not clear how and when the young man came to Germany.
