"Mubarak needs to leave. He did nothing for the country," 52-year-old Djamal El Said told AFP, criticising the government's corrupt "millionaires".
It doesn't matter who replaces Mubarak as long as "the future government is fair," said El Said, an Egyptian living in France.
Hours after the demonstration, Sarkozy joined British Prime Minister David Cameron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in urging Mubarak to avoid violence "at all costs" in a joint statement Saturday.
The three leaders called on Egypt's embattled president to commit to change in response to what they said were the "legitimate grievances" of his people.
France's foreign ministry has urged nationals to postpone all non-urgent travel to Egypt.
