Hundreds of protestors in France call on Mubarak to resign

PARIS- Hundreds of protestors in France on Saturday demanded Egypt's Hosni Mubarak to step down as French President Nicolas Sarkozy joined Britain and Germany in an appeal to him to avoid violence.
Chants of "Egypt, Egypt, long live Egypt!", "Mubarak murderer!" and "Mubarak get out!" were hurled in French and Arabic at the Egyptian embassy in Paris, located near the city's iconic Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Elysees.

Under heavy police surveillance, around 700 people took part in the protest, a police official told AFP.
Demonstrators, some with their children in tow, had organised the rally via social networking service Facebook. Many of them waved Egyptian flags and held signs hostile to Mubarak and his regime.
"Mubarak needs to leave. He did nothing for the country," 52-year-old Djamal El Said told AFP, criticising the government's corrupt "millionaires".
It doesn't matter who replaces Mubarak as long as "the future government is fair," said El Said, an Egyptian living in France.
Hours after the demonstration, Sarkozy joined British Prime Minister David Cameron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in urging Mubarak to avoid violence "at all costs" in a joint statement Saturday.
The three leaders called on Egypt's embattled president to commit to change in response to what they said were the "legitimate grievances" of his people.
France's foreign ministry has urged nationals to postpone all non-urgent travel to Egypt.
