Trump threatens to 'totally destroy' North Korea at first UN address

LONDON (dpa)- US President Donald Trump has warned Pyongyang that if the US is forced to defend itself or its allies, "we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea."
"Rocket man is on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime," Trump said during his first address to the United Nations General Assembly, using a nickname he coined for North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Trump told world leaders that the regime's nuclear programme "threatens the entire world with unthinkable loss of human life."
Trump took aim at nations, including China, that trade with North Korea. "No nation on Earth has an interest in seeing this band of criminals arm it self with missiles and nuclear weapons," he said.
Kim must commit to to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, Trump said.
