9/11 museum requests relatives' contributions

NEW YORK- New York's planned 9/11 museum asked relatives of victims Wednesday to contribute photos, memories and other elements to a "Wall of Faces" remembering the nearly 3,000 victims.
"The memorial exhibition will rely on material contributed by you," the project says on its website, www.national911memorial.org.
The centerpiece of the museum, due to be opened in two years near Ground Zero, will be a wall of victims' photographs "through which the scale of loss will be conveyed with immediacy and power."
Nearly 3,000 people died on September 11, 2001, when airliners hijacked by Islamist militants were flown into the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center.
The museum is meant to be part of a massive reconstruction plan at Ground Zero where delays in the rebuilding project have become a serious embarrassment for the city.
The plan is for a multimedia exhibition where victims' names will be read out aloud and visitors will be able to access biographical information about victims, most of whom were killed while working in the Twin Towers office buildings.
"If you would like to record your loved one's name by phone as part of this feature in the memorial exhibition, we invite you to do so through our Call to Remember system," the website announces.
