BARILOCHE - Argentina will adopt the Japanese standard for high-definition television (HDTV) over its competitors from Europe and the United States, officials said Friday.
Argentine President Cristina Kirchner made the announcement that her country would follow Brazil in opting for the Japanese standard in the highly-competitive market at a South American summit here on Friday.

Kirchner also signed a cooperation accord on HDTV with Brazil, which has dubbed its version of the Japanese standard, the ISDB-Tb.
