Rome – Roma's former youth-team midfielder Joseph Bouasse has died at 21, the Serie A club said Monday.
Bouasse reportedly suffered a heart attack late Sunday. He signed for Romanian second-tier side Universitatea Cluj earlier this year after being released by Roma in 2018 without having played a first-team game.
Roma's official English Twitter account tweeted that the club was "deeply saddened" by the news.
He arrived in Italy from Cameroon as a teenager and played with Liberi Nantes, a sport association that assists refugees, before joining Roma, from whom he was loaned to Serie B side Vicenza.
