EU's Tusk cancels Middle East trip due to 'critical' Brexit talks

Brussels - European Council President Donald Tusk has cancelled a planned trip to the Middle East this week in order to handle Brexit issues instead.

Tusk has changed his plans "due to a critical moment in the Brexit talks and due to consultations on draft guidelines for the second phase" of negotiations, his spokesman Preben Aamann told dpa.
Tusk had been due to meet Israeli Prime Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday and Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah on Wednesday. The talks are no longer listed on his updated weekly schedule.
