SAN FRANCISCO- YouTube videos are becoming high art.
The Guggenheim Museum on Monday culled 125 final contenders from more than 23,000 videos submitted for consideration as part of an exhibit that it plans to unveil in October.
A YouTube Play jury will select no more than 20 videos for the exhibit, which will debut at the Guggenheim in New York City and be displayed at kiosks at the museum's branches in the Spanish city of Bilbao, Berlin, and Venice.

"In a way, YouTube is a medium inciting revolution and terrifying us with a Katana (samurai sword). We must challenge YouTube on a daily basis."
Submissions being considered included some from students, filmmakers, composers, comedy groups, musicians, video game programmers, and a women's chess champion.
Videos by the finalists can be viewed online at youtube.com/play and those selected for the exhibit will be available internationally at the YouTube Play channel.
