BERLIN (dpa)- Artur Brauner, one of the most successful German film producers, died on Sunday at the age of 100 in Berlin, his family announced.
Brauner died peacefully in his sleep, they said.
Born in 1918 in the Polish city of Lodz, Brauner helped the German film industry to regain its reputation after World War II.
Brauner, who lost 49 Jewish relatives in the Nazi concentration camps, also focused in numerous films on the fate of Holocaust victims.
These included productions such as "The Saboteur: Code Name Morituri" of 1948, "Europa Europa" of 1990 and "Wunderkinder (Child Prodigies)" of 2011.
More than 700 feature films and TV productions were made in Brauner's CCC studios in Berlin.
For decades, Brauner and his wife Maria were regularly seen at major social events in Berlin.
Brauner's daughter Alice has been a producer for several years, continuing her father's life's work.
