Greek students protest against university policing

ATHENS - Hundreds of students demonstrated in Athens on Thursday to protest against a plan for policing at universities after a rector was injured in a violent protest over the weekend.
Police in Greece are currently restricted from entering university buildings under laws dating from the restoration of democracy in 1974 following a traumatic seven-year army dictatorship.

After Kittas' injury, the Athens Law School -- which is often taken over by demonstrators during protests -- announced plans to introduce security cards for its students.
The school's board also demanded that an anarchists' club on its premises be disbanded. A group of left-wing students reacted by taking over the building.
