JFK's sister critically ill: hospital

BOSTON - Eunice Kennedy Shriver, sister of slain US president John F. Kennedy and founder of the Special Olympics, is in critical condition at a hospital in Massachusetts, a spokeswoman said Friday.
"Eunice Shriver has been here a week" and is in "critical" state, Robin Lord, a spokeswoman for Cape Cod Hospital in the northeastern US state, told AFP.
Shriver, 88, was surrounded by close relatives, CBS television and other US media quoted a family spokesman as saying.
She founded the Special Olympics in 1968 and is seen as one of the country's main champions of the mentally disabled.
Her work was inspired by the experience of having a mentally disabled sister, Rosemary.
