MADRID (dpa)- James Franco's tragi-comic biopic "The Disaster Artist" on Saturday won the San Sebastian International Film Festival's top prize, the Golden Shell.
The film, starring and directed by the 39-year-old American chronicles the making of the notorious 2003 cult film "The Room."
Created by engimatic filmmaker Tommy Wiseau, "The Room" became famous for its bizarre dialogue and terrible acting, and is described by many critics as one of the worst films ever made.
At the 65th version of the film festival in Spain, Argentinian director Anahi Berneri became the first woman to win the best Silver Shell for best director for her film "Alanis."
Sofia Gala Castiglione, who plays the prostitute Alanis in the film, won the prize for best actress.
The best actor prize was won by Romanian Bogdan Dumitrache, star of the film "Pororoca."
