Oprah makes Twitter debut with SHOUT out to fans

WASHINGTON- US talk show megastar Oprah Winfrey made her debut on micro-blogging service Twitter on Friday with a shout out to her fans.
A literal shout.
"HI TWITTERS. THANK YOU FOR A WARM WELCOME. FEELING REALLY 21st CENTURY," Oprah wrote in her first "tweet," written in all capital letters, the Twitter equivalent of shouting.

Oprah's Twitter account has grown at a phenomenal pace since she announced its creation on her Facebook page on Thursday, attracting more than 125,000 followers in less than 24 hours.
She still has some ways to go, however, to catch up with Hollywood actor Ashton Kutcher, who beat CNN on Friday in a race to see who could become the first Twitter user to attract one million followers.
Kutcher, the star of the television series "That '70s Show" and husband of actress Demi Moore, appeared on Oprah's show by videolink fresh from his early morning win over CNN to teach her how to use Twitter.
Explaining the significance of his victory, Kutcher said: "I believe that we're at a place now where one person's voice can be as powerful as an entire news network."
Kutcher had promised to donate 10,000 mosquito nets to stop the spread of malaria in Africa if he defeated CNN, and Oprah -- in a "tweet" -- also agreed to chip in, pledging to donate 20,000 nets.
Oprah is the latest celebrity to begin using Twitter, which allows users to pepper their followers with messages of a maximum 140 characters.
Other well-known users include British actor and playwright Stephen Fry, NBA star Shaquille O'Neal and seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong.
