Pence: 'No daylight' between Washington, Seoul on North Korea

Seoul/Pyeongchang - US Vice President Mike Pence said Saturday that there is "no daylight" between the US and South Korea on its policy towards Pyongyang, despite thawing ties between the Koreas.

Pence said that after briefly speaking with South Korean President Moon Jae In while at the Winter Olympics, they agreed on "the need to continue to isolate North Korea economically and diplomatically until they abandon their nuclear and ballistic missile program."

Moon, a proponent of building ties with the North, on Saturday was invited by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to visit Pyongyang at the "earliest possible date" - a sign of thawing ties between the rivals.
Pence added that Moon had told him about his meeting with the North Korean delegation to the Games in Pyeongchang and that they had agreed to further pressure North Korea.
