Pope denounces 'destructive quarrels' in Catholic Church

- Pope Benedict XVI on Friday denounced what he called "destructive quarrels" that have hit the Roman Catholic Church, Ansa news agency reported.
The pope made the comments and said "an examination of the conscience is needed" during a visit to a Rome seminary, the report said.
The Catholic Church has been badly hit by an international controversy caused by the pope's decision to lift the excommunication of an ultra-conservative bishop, Richard Williamson, who has denied that Jews were killed in the Nazi gas chambers.
