Cairo (dpa) - A top bodyguard of Saudi King Salman was killed in a personal dispute with his friend that developed into a shootout injuring several others, Saudi state media reported on Sunday, citing security officials.
Major-General Abdulaziz al-Faghem was shot by the friend after a heated argument Saturday evening in a house in the Saudi Red Sea city of Jeddah, a police spokesman said without elaborating.
Al-Faghem later died at a local hospital, the official added, according to the state news agency SPA.
Two civilians were also injured in the shooting. Police killed the shooter after he refused to surrender and opened fire at security forces, the police spokesman added.
Five security personnel were also injured by the "random shooting" by the assailant, state Saudi television al-Ekhbariya reported.
Al-Faghem was also a bodyguard of King Salman's predecessor, Abdullah, who died in 2015, according to Saudi media.
