Sean Penn sentenced for paparazzi scuffle

LOS ANGELES- Oscar-winner Sean Penn was sentenced to three years' probation and ordered to undergo anger management counseling Wednesday after pleading no contest to a charge arising from a confrontation with a photographer last year.
Penn, 49, a two-time best actor Oscar-winner for his performances in "Mystic River" and "Milk," must also perform 300 hours of community service in connection with the October 2 incident.

Los Angeles City Attorney's Office spokesman Frank Mateljan said Penn must also stay 100 yards away from the photographer involved in the altercation.
Penn has a history of violent confrontations with photographers. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail in 1987, serving roughly half that time behind bars, after attacking a photographer on a film set.
