ROME (dpa)- World-famous tenor Andrea Bocelli was the star of a classical concert in Italy conducted by a robot.
The event, hosted late Tuesday, opened the International Robotics Festival in Pisa, Tuscany, which runs until September 13.

Bocelli sang the famous "La donna รจ mobile" (The lady is fickle) from Giuseppe Verdi's opera "Rigoletto."
The Swiss-made robot YuMi was programmed to imitate the movements of the director of the Lucca Philarmonic Orchestra Andrea Colombini, a festival spokesman told dpa on Wednesday.
The robot would not be able to improvise and lead musicians on its own, Francesco Ceccarelli said.
"Men need robots, but robots also need men," Ceccarelli said.
There have been other examples of robot-conducted orchestra in the past. The first time was in 2008, when a Japanese-designed machine led the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
