CANCUN- Mexican police on Thursday detained an Emmy-nominated producer of the "Survivor" TV series after his wife's body was found dumped in a water tank at a luxury beach resort in Cancun.
Bruce Beresford-Redman reported his 42-year-old wife, Monica, as missing on Monday in the Caribbean beach resort after he said she left to go shopping.
Her body was found three days later in a waste water treatment tank some 80 meters (90 yards) from their room in the five-star Moon Palace Hotel, Quintana Roo state prosecutor Bello Melchor Rodriguez told AFP.
Beresford-Redman was "suspected of being responsible" for her death, he said.
Hotel employees said they had seen the couple arguing on Monday night and that Beresford-Redman had threatened to hit her, according to Melchor.
The couple arrived in Cancun on March 31 and were due to return to the United States on Thursday. Mexican authorities have detained Beresford-Redman's passport.
