LOS ANGELES, Antje Weser (dpa) - The fantasy thriller "The Shape of Water" topped the list of nominees for the 75th Golden Globe Awards Monday with seven nominations, while the drama "The Post" and "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" followed close behind with six each.
"The Shape of Water," directed and written by Guillermo del Toro, picked up nominations for best drama, best director, best actress in a motion picture drama for Sally Hawkins and best screenplay.

"Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri," which follows a mother who is trying to get authorities to solve her daughter's murder, received nods for best drama, best actress in a motion picture drama for Frances McDormand and best director and screenplay for Martin McDonagh.
Also competing in the best drama category are Christopher Nolan's World War II thriller "Dunkirk," and the coming-of-age drama "Call Me By Your Name."
Unlike their rivals the Oscars, the Golden Globes split their top awards into two categories, drama and musical or comedy, leading to two sets of best film and lead acting prizes.
In the best comedy/musical category "Get Out," which follows an African-American man who meets his white girlfriend's parents, will compete with James Franco's "The Disaster Artist," the comedy-drama "Lady Bird," the biographical musical film "The Greatest Showman," and "I, Tonya," which is about the former competitive figure skater Tonya Harding.
James Franco was among the nominees for best actor in a motion picture muscial/comedy for the "The Disaster Artist," and Saoirse Ronan is among those up for best actress in a motion picture muscial/comedy for "Lady Bird."
Nominated for best foreign-language film were Cambodia's "First They Killed My Father," Germany and France's "In The Fade," Russia's "Loveless", Chile's "A Fantastic Woman," and Sweden, Germany and France's "The Square."
