UNITED NATIONS - Top UN official Lynn Pascoe will begin a week-long visit to southern and east Africa this week to discuss conflict prevention and peacemaking, a UN spokesman said Wednesday.
Pascoe, the UN under secretary general for political affairs, was to tour South Africa, Angola, Burundi, Uganda and Kenya from Thursday, spokesman Farhan Haq told a press briefing.
Haq said Pascoe would discuss the world body's cooperation with the region on dealing with hotspots such as Somalia, Burundi, the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and Madagascar.
