Trial in Danish submarine murder case enters final stages

Copenhagen (dpa) - The trial of a Danish inventor accused of murdering Swedish journalist Kim Wall on his self-built submarine enters its final stages on Monday.
Peter Madsen has also been charged with indecent handling of a corpse as well as dismembering Wall's body.
The Copenhagen court was expected to hear a psychiatric assessment of Madsen on Monday before closing statements from the prosecutor and Madsen's attorney.
At the opening of the trial in March, the prosecution said it was seeking a life sentence and safe custody for Madsen.
A verdict could possibly be handed down on Wednesday.
Madsen, 47, admits to dismembering and dumping Wall's body at sea last August but denies killing her, saying she died of suffocation onboard. He has been in pre-trial detention since August 12.
Wall, 30, was last seen on the evening of August 10 on an amateur-built submarine belonging to Madsen as it left Copenhagen harbour.
Her decapitated torso and other body parts were subsequently found in the Bay of Koge, near Copenhagen. Madsen had tried to weigh them down with steel pipes.
