Ventures guitar legend Bogle dies at 75

LOS ANGELES- Legendary guitarist Bob Bogle, a founding member of 1960s instrumental group The Ventures, has died, his band announced in a statement Tuesday. He was 75.
Bogle, who founded the group with Don Wilson in 1958, was a pivotal figure in the band's biggest hits, which included the seminal surf classic "Walk Don't Run" as well as the theme tune to the popular television series "Hawaii Five-O."

The Ventures said in a statement on their website that Bogle died on Sunday. Media reports said Bogle had fought a long battle with cancer.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Bob's family at this terrible time, especially his beloved wife, Yumi, who has been the light of his life for so many years," the statement said.
"The Ventures' members are completely devasted, and share the pain of this loss with all our friends and fans. The music world has lost a true original and an innovator -- may all our wonderful memories console us."
