ARRECIFE- Western Sahara independence activist Aminatou Haidar left hospital Thursday where she was treated while on a hunger strike to travel back to the Moroccan territory.
"This is a triumph for international law, for human rights, for international justice and for the cause" of the Western Sahara, Haidar told journalists as she left the clinic in Lanzarote in the Canary Islands and headed for the airport in an ambulance.

She was rushed to intensive care just after midnight on Wednesday more than a month after she started a hunger strike in protest at Rabat's refusal to allow her back into her native Western Sahara.
The area is a disputed territory annexed by Morocco in 1975.
