British fugitive caught in Netherlands: police

THE HAGUE - Dutch police have arrested one of Britain's most wanted men after six years on the run, authorities said Wednesday.
Noel Cunningham, 47, was on the run since 2003 after escaping from a British police van that was transporting him to court to face charges over a raid on a security van.
The suspect, who was using someone else's passport, was arrested late Tuesday in Amstelveen, 10 kilometres (six miles) south of Amsterdam, Dutch police said in a statement.

Cunningham had been accused of attacking a money truck carrying 1.25 million pounds (1.42 million euros, 2.0 million dollars).
"Noel Francis Cunningham, 47, was arrested by Dutch police at about 8 pm last night," a Metropolitan Police spokesman said in London.
"Cunningham was unlawfully at large and a European Arrest Warrant had been circulated for his arrest after he escaped from a prison van on June 10, 2003."
He will appear in a Dutch court on Friday ahead of extradition proceedings, the spokesman said.
Cunningham was being transported from prison in south London to court when two armed men ambushed the prison van. The driver of the van was shot in the leg and a guard was beaten about the head.
