The Athens demonstration on Sunday
The rector of Athens University, Christos Kittas, was hospitalised on Sunday after being injured by youths attempting to take over the university's offices in the city centre during a demonstration to honour a teenager fatally shot by a policeman a year ago. On Thursday, Kittas quit his post.
After Kittas' injury, the Athens Law School -- which is often taken over by demonstrators during protests -- announced plans to introduce security cards for its students.
The school's board also demanded that an anarchists' club on its premises be disbanded. A group of left-wing students reacted by taking over the building.
