Haley denies rumour of affair with Trump, calling it 'offensive'

Washington - Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the United Nations, has forcefully denied a rumour that she is having an affair with President Donald Trump.

"It is absolutely not true. It is highly offensive and it is disgusting," Haley said in an interview with Politico. She added that she had been the target of such rumours before and found them to be manufactured by people who resent successsful women.
The rumour spread after Michael Wolff, author of an explosive book about the White House and Trump's 2016 campaign, dropped hints on a US television talk show that he was "absolutely sure" the president is having an affair.
But he said he didn't have enough proof to include all the details in his book "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House," which became a bestseller after it was released earlier this month.
"The president had been spending a notable amount of private time with Haley on Air Force One and was seen to be grooming her for a national political future," Wolff wrote in the book.
He said that information was enough for discriminating readers to determine Haley was the one involved in the alleged affair, he said.
Haley said Wolff got his facts wrong. She had been on Air Force One once and there were several people around at the time, and said she had never talked with the president alone about her political future, as Wolff had asserted.
Haley was interviewed for Politico’s Women Rule podcast. Politico said Wolff did not respond to a request for comment.
