Student exams postponed after Brazil test leak

BRASILIA - Millions of Brazilian students gained some extra cramming time Thursday when Brazil's Education Ministry postponed a national exam after a newspaper was offered a copy of the test.
Over four million students were scheduled to take the exam at the end of the week, but the Education Ministry was forced to postpone the test after the O Estado de Sao Paulo newspaper was offered a copy at a price of 500,000 reals (266,000 US dollars).

The newspaper got in touch with Culture Minister Fernando Haddad, and he "confirmed the leak by checking with technicians at the National Institute for Educational Research," which is responsible for organizing the exam.
The government said they had no choice but to postpone the test because there was no way to tell how many other copies of the exam had been made.
The test has been postponed until November, and an investigation into the leak has been launched.
Coming up with a new exam is expected to cost some 30 million reals (16 million dollars).
