Arab League congratulates Sudan's Beshir on poll win

CAIRO- The Arab League on Wednesday congratulated Sudanese President Omar al-Beshir on winning another term in office after his country's first multi-party election in more than two decades.
The pan-Arab organisation's chief Amr Mussa sent his congratulations to Beshir, who was declared this week the winner of a presidential poll with 68 percent of the vote.

Mussa said he was convinced that Beshir, known "for his experience and wisdom, will continue leading the Sudanese people toward development and progress."
Beshir is wanted by the International Criminal Court for alleged war crimes in the western Darfur region.
The United Nations says 300,000 people have died in Darfur in a war that broke out in 2003 when ethnic rebels complaining about discrimination revolted against the central government.
