Bayern's Rummenigge sees Mueller back in Germany squad

Munich (dpa) - Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge believes Thomas Mueller has a chance of regaining his place in the German national team for Euro 2020.

Mueller, 30, was discarded last year, along with fellow 2014 World Cup winners Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng, as coach Joachim Loew began to revamp the national team.
Mueller has been recently linked with a possible selection as an older player for Germany's Olympic squad for Tokyo 2020.
But Rummenigge told Sport1 and Bild daily Tuesday that Mueller's current form for Bayern could make him a candidate again for the national squad.
"I basically don't want to give Jogi (Joachim) Loew any advice," Rummenigge said. "I think he's experienced enough, he has had great success with the national team.
"I always say: If someone plays top - and I hope Thomas continues to play top at this level - then there may also be a rethink."
Rummenigge said a player like Mueller can always be used whether by Bayern or by Germany at Euro 2020.
