Berlin opera house to livestream 'Carmen' with no audience





Berlin (dpa) - The show must go on at Berlin's Staatsoper despite coronavirus containment measures.



 
The opera house's director Matthias Schulz said the performance of "Carmen" on Thursday will go ahead but without a live audience - instead, the show will be live-streamed for free for the public.
A similar solution is also being sought for the opening night of Mozart's "Idomeneo" opera at the Staatsoper, set for March 22, he said.
The German capital's renowned Philharmonic Orchestra is also looking into livestreaming its concerts online.
