Brazilians spend more time on web than US users

SAO PAULO- Brazilian web users are now spending more time on the Internet than their US and Japanese counterparts, according to an Ibope/Nielsen survey published Wednesday.
The study showed that Brazilians went online for an average 70 hours in June, more than the 68 hours reported in Japan and the 65 hours in the United States.

Internet penetration in Brazil is still lagging compared to wealthier countries, though.
Fewer than one in four Brazilians -- just 44 million out of a total population of 190 million -- have Internet access at home.
Online activities recorded include not just website navigation but also instant messaging, e-mails, downloading, listening to music and using the computer as an IP telephone.
