British Deputy PM to visit Washington

WASHINGTON- British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg will visit Washington for talks with US Vice President Joe Biden on September 23, the White House said Thursday.
Clegg, who leads the Liberal Democrats in coalition with Prime Minister David Cameron's Conservative Party, earlier took part in a video-conference on Iraq, Afghanistan and counter-terrorism with Biden.

The two leaders shared notes on recent travel, including Biden's trip to Iraq and Clegg's visit to British NATO troops in Afghanistan.
"The Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister discussed our countries’ close counterterrorism cooperation and expressed support for the resumption of direct talks between the Israelis and Palestinians", Biden's office said in a statement.
"The Deputy Prime Minister accepted the Vice President’s invitation to meet with him in Washington DC, on September 23."
Clegg's visit will come two months after Cameron made his first visit to Washington as prime minister for talks with Obama.
