CBS reporter wounded in bomb blast in Afghanistan

WASHINGTON - An award-winning correspondent with CBS Radio News was wounded on Friday in a roadside bomb blast in Afghanistan, the US network said.
Cami McCormick, a New York-based reporter who has been with CBS since September 1998, was traveling with members of the US army when their vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED) in Logar Province, CBS said.

"McCormick was initially treated at a field hospital, where she underwent surgery to stabilize her condition, and was then transported to Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan for additional treatment," CBS said.
McCormick was in Afghanistan to cover the recent elections, the network said, and stayed on to cover the continuing fighting in the region.
Prior to working for CBS, McCormick worked for CNN, CBS said. She has received five Edward R. Murrow awards as well as other honors.
Two journalists with the US news agency the Associated Press were wounded in a bomb attack in southern Afghanistan earlier this month.
