EU's Borrell tells migrants in Turkey: 'The border is not open'

Zagreb (dpa) - Europe's borders with Turkey are "not open," says EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, asking journalists to spread this message so it reaches migrants who may be seeking to reach the bloc after being told otherwise

.
"Don't go to the border; the border is not open," Borrell says following an emergency meeting of EU foreign ministers in Zagreb on the conflict in Syria and Turkey's related actions. "Avoid moving to a closed door," he adds.
"We strongly reject a situation in which migrants are flowing to their borders of Europe believing, because someone told them, that these borders are going to be open," the top EU diplomat says.
In a statement issued after their talks, the EU foreign ministers call on Turkey to "implement fully" the 2016 migration deal struck with Brussels, noting that it produces "tangible results, including by supporting Turkey's significant efforts in hosting migrants and refugees."
