Former French president Sarkozy held on campaign funding questions

Paris - Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy has been taken in for questioning regarding allegations that his 2007 campaign took funds from Libya, a source familiar with the investigation told dpa on Tuesday.

Prosecutors have not released a statement.
Sarkozy is being questioned in Nanterre, near Paris. It is not clear how long the questioning will last.
Sarkozy was president from 2007 to 2012. Questions have long swirled about the way his campaign financed itself, though they have not stopped Sarkozy from attempting to return to politics since he lost the presidency in 2012.
