LONDON- Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is to star in gothic thriller "The Woman in Black", cult British horror film maker Hammer said on Monday.
Radcliffe will begin filming in October for his first major role since completing work on a two-part finale to the global blockbuster movie franchise about the adventures of the boy wizard.

"The Woman in Black", the best-selling novel by Susan Hill which has already spawned a hit London theatre version, has been adapted for the big screen by Jane Goldman, who penned this year's cult hit "Kick-Ass".
He will play Arthur Kipps, a young lawyer who travels to an isolated house in a remote part of Britain to deal with the documents of a client who has recently died.
The house soon reveals its tragic secrets and the lawyer learns that the local village is held hostage by the ghost of a scorned woman set on vengeance.
The film will be directed by "Eden Lake" director James Watkins.
Radcliffe, 20, who has played the boy wizard in all the Harry Potter feature films based on the JK Rowling books, said he was "incredibly excited" by his new role.
"Jane Goldman's script is beautifully written -- both tender and terrifying in equal measure," he said.
"It is thrilling to be working with James Watkins.
"From his brilliant work on Eden Lake and also having met him and heard his vision for the film, I know he will make a fantastic film."
