I never imagined I would return to Libya: al-Megrahi

TRIPOLI - Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmet al-Megrahi said in an interview broadcast Friday that never imagined he would return home to Libya.
"I never imagined that I would one day be able to return to Libya," he said in an interview recorded Thursday by Libyan TV channel Al Mutawassit as Megrahi was flying to Tripoli.

Megrahi, the only person convicted of the December 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, which killed 270 people in the air and on the ground in the Scottish town of Lockerbie, was released on compassionate grounds by Scottish authorities on Thursday.
Doctors treating the 57-year-old for prostate cancer said he had no more than three months to live.
"I have waited a long time for this moment. One can only thank God," said Megrahi.
