In Bangladesh, Pope urges 'decisive measures' to end refugee crisis

Dhaka – Pope Francis called on the international community to take "decisive measures" to address the refugee crisis unfolding between Bangladesh and Myanmar.

"It is imperative that the international community take decisive measures to address this grave crisis," Francis told a gathering at Bangladesh’s Bangabhaban presidential palace on Thursday.
Political dialogue among the stakeholders must take place, the pope said while urging immediate assistance for the refugees from Myanmar who are living in squalid conditions in Bangladesh.
The pope, who arrived in Dhaka on a three-day visit to Bangladesh after ending a trip to Myanmar, once again did not specifically mention the persecuted ethnic group fleeing Buddhist-majority Myanmar: Rohingya Muslims.
