Israel plans contact with Palestinians in US

JERUSALEM- Israel announced on Saturday that its chief peace negotiator Yitzhak Molcho is to travel to Washington next week to renew contacts with the Palestinians.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "agreed this week with (US) envoy Dennis Ross for Mr Yitzhak Molcho to meet next week in Washington with a Palestinian representative to advance the (peace) process," the premier's office said.

Without a new Israeli freeze on settlement building in the West Bank, the Palestinians have refused to negotiate, blocking direct peace negotiations launched last September 2.
The talks ran aground three weeks later when settlement building resumed.
