Italian FM to visit Gaza next week: spokesman

ROME- Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini will travel to Gaza next week as part of a tour of the Middle East aimed at giving a push to the peace process," his spokesman said on Wednesday.
"We will visit Gaza on November 24," Maurizio Massari told reporters.

Frattini's delegation will travel to Israel, the Palestinian territories and Egypt between November 22 and November 25, he said. The foreign minister is also expected to visit Jordan and Lebanon before the end of the year.
"We're aiming to give a push to the peace process against the backdrop of the efforts being made by the United States," Massari said.
Frattini will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas on his trip, the spokesman added.
