Karaoke now possible in Japan - with precautions

Tokyo (dpa) - Karaoke lovers can sing again in Japan but with precautions to make the performance safer as the country emerges from the coronavirus pandemic.

For example, customers at the operator Karaoke Manekineko in Tokyo have their body temperature measured at the entrance by a machine that uses artificial intelligence, the Japanese daily Tokyo Shimbun reported on Saturday.
They then sing in the karaoke rooms with microphones covered with fabric and a transparent plastic funnel to stop droplets spreading during singing.
The rooms are regularly disinfected by personnel wearing masks and plastic visors. In addition, the number of guests is limited depending on the size of the room and ventilation.
