Lavrov hits back at British accusations against Russia

MOSCOW (dpa)- In the face of "rather insultingly formulated" British allegations, Russia has persistently presented vindicating facts, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Friday.
"We have heard accusations that are rather insultingly formulated in address to us, that we support a criminal regime in Syria, that we are aggressors, occupiers, annexing foreign territory," Lavrov told a press conference alongside British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson.

Russia has always encouraged the British side to review the concrete facts and Russia's positions on such issues, Lavrov said. "I honestly cannot remember any actions by Russia that would have been aggressive towards the United Kingdom. We have not accused London of anything."
"We agree that the state of Russian-British relations today cannot be described as satisfactory," Lavrov said. "Problems have accumulated, the load of which pulls us backwards, although both sides, in my opinion, want to find a way to overcome them."
