Itani is shown standing outside a small house in the countryside, with the words "Northern Storm Brigade" painted on its walls.
The rebel group claimed responsibility for his abduction in a statement on its Facebook page on Saturday.
"The work of journalist Fida Itani is not compatible with the revolution... We therefore have placed him under arrest for a short time," it said, without specifying when he was detained or where he was being held.
It said he would be released "as soon as remaining information requested about him is gathered," without elaborating.
Itani works for private Lebanese television channel LBCI, which said it contacted one "Abu Ibrahim, who confirmed that Itani is in the custody of the Aazaz rebels."
Abu Ibrahim, who is linked to the Northern Storm Brigade, was quoted by LBCI as saying Itani was taken to Aazaz because he was taking too many photographs, raising suspicions.
Anti-regime activists in Aazaz and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights have denounced Abu Ibrahim as a criminal.
Protests broke out in Aazaz on Sunday against the presence of armed groups in civilian areas, and their holding dozens of people captive.
Abu Ibrahim shot to notoriety in mid-summer when his group claimed responsibility for kidnapping a group of Lebanese Shiite pilgrims.
According to international press freedom watchdog Reporters Without Borders, Itani had investigated their kidnapping.
On Saturday RSF called for Itani's immediate and unconditional release.
