Man who killed police dog in chase gets 44

The dog -- a six-and-a-half-year-old Belgian Malinois named Stryker -- died from injuries sustained in the fall into the waters of the San Diego Bay. Byron suffered a collapsed lung and other injuries in the fall.
Byron had two previous convictions for driving while drunk.
Stryker was given a hero's burial in January last year at a service attended by several hundred people and around 120 service dogs.
