May hails Brexit political text as 'right deal for UK'

London - Prime Minister Theresa May says the agreement of a political declaration on Britain's post-Brexit relationship with the European Union is "the right deal for the UK" and reflects the will of the 52-per-cent majority who voted to leave the bloc.

"This is the right deal for the UK. It delivers on the vote of the [2016] referendum," May said outside Downing Street following talks in Brussels late Wednesday.
"The British people want this to be settled. They want a good deal that sets us on course for a brighter future," May said, adding that negotiations had continued overnight after she left Brussels.
"That deal is within our grasp and I am determined to deliver it," she said.
May added that she spoke to Spain's prime minister and is confident of finding "a deal that delivers for the whole UK family, including Gibraltar."
