Merkel slams 'discussion orgies' in Germany over easing restrictions

During a conference call of her Christian Democratic Union's party leadership, Merkel made clear how unhappy she is that the message of carefully loosening the restrictions had led to "discussion orgies" in some federal states on opening things back up, sources among the participants told dpa.
Merkel expressed concern that the progress made in terms of the infection rate could be reversed because too few people will respect social distancing rules. The discussion about easing the restrictions is not helpful, she said according to the sources.
